We would rather tell you now than at the gate. Here is who we are built for, who we cannot take, and what we need in place before a stay.
A good fit
If any of this sounds like your dog, you are in the right place. This is who the whole site was designed around.
Where we may not be the answer
None of this is a judgement on your dog. It is simply what we can and cannot do well, said plainly.
We can very often help, but not quickly. A dog with real difficulty around new people needs preparation time, and preparation cannot be compressed to fit a holiday that is already booked. If your dates are close, please still get in touch, and we will be honest about whether there is enough time.
For some older dogs, being away from familiar surroundings causes confusion that no amount of kindness resolves. If we think that is likely for your dog, we will gently suggest that a care option keeping them at home may suit them better.
We can give suitable medication as part of a stay, but we cannot take dogs who require injectable medication.
We cannot take dogs with a severe life threatening illness requiring 24 hour monitoring. Danielle and Marcus live on site close to the kennels, but dogs are not continuously attended overnight, and we will not imply a level of supervision we do not provide.
We do not board bitches in season. It creates unnecessary stress for the female and for the other dogs staying here, so we will always ask you to rebook for another time.
Before a stay
These evidence requirements form part of our boarding licence. Your vet can advise what is medically right for your dog, but we cannot make an exception that would put our licence at risk.
The required up to date vaccinations or acceptable valid titre test evidence showing immunity must be in place under the terms of our boarding licence. We need a copy of the evidence for our files. Without it, we cannot legally board your dog.
Titre testing does not cover leptospirosis. Where this boarding policy requires it, leptospirosis vaccination therefore needs to be provided separately, alongside your titre evidence.
Kennel cough vaccination is optional. If your dog has received a live kennel cough vaccine, at least 14 full days must pass before the first day of their stay.
We need the date of your dog's most recent flea and worming treatment, and the product used.

If we say no
If we believe a dog will be too stressed to have a good stay, we will either postpone boarding while we do more preparation work, or tell you honestly that it is not the right option for them. It is never said lightly, and it is never a reflection on you or your dog.
